| Introduction |

| Lanka Academy
of Technological Studies (Private) Ltd. was established in February 2002
to offer quality training to Sri Lanka and foreign students at affordable
rates. We are registered as a public liability company and are approved
by the Directorate of Merchant Shipping in Sri Lanka to conduct marine courses
that are tabled below. |
| The academy
employs qualified lecturers and is managed by a pioneer in maritime training
in Sri Lanka, Capt. E.S.M.Senenayake who obtained MSc in maritime training
from World Maritime University - Malmo, Sweden. He has been
responsible in commencement of Marine Short Courses in Sri Lanka and is
a founder member of the two other Maritime Training Institutes in Sri Lanka.

of Technological Studies obtained ISO 9001 – 2000 Standard that is mandatory
for maritime training academies at its inception. |
| Marine Safety Courses |
|
| These courses
are mandatory for all seafarers to start a carrier at sea. All courses are
approved by the Directorate of Merchant Shipping and successful candidates
are issued with interna-tionally valid certificates and for period of 5
years from the date issued. Trainees are required to produce a medical certificate
to follow training which involves rigorous physical activity including swimming,
diving and fire fighting. The CDC or Passport is required to be pro-duced
at the time of registration. |
| Trainees are
required to abide by the safety rules and regulations of the Academy during
their stay at the academy. The certificate is issued to successful candidates
who has attended all the sessions of the course and have passed the written
and practical tests conducted by the academy. |

| The academy is located at 542,
Gall Road, Panadura, Sri Lanka on the main road to Galle from Panadura,
close to Panadura Private Bus Deport. It is also close to the Panadura Rail-way
Station. |
| Qualifications |
|
| There is no specified qualification required,
but it is expected that all learners will be able to read and write Sinhala
or Tamil and have a working knowledge of English. The courses will be conducted
in English with translations in Sinhala and Tamil as required. Student notes
are issued for each course. |

| Note: Accommodation could be provided at a
cost of 150/= Rs. per day subject to provision of a Police report from the
trainee's residential area. |
